Description

James Choi, PhD
Professor of Finance, Yale School of Management

It is common to hear advice that you should invest 60% of your portfolio in stocks, or 100 minus your age percent in stocks, or all your long-term money in stocks. What does economics have to say about this matter? We will cover the basic approach economic theory takes, some classic portfolio recommendations, and new advances in how to adjust your investment allocation in light of the fact that most people’s biggest economic asset is their future wage income and Social Security benefits.

Organized by the Department of Economics and cosponsored by the Center for Social Science Scholarship as part of the Social Sciences Forum.
